Bed bugs took the United States by storm in the 1990s, becoming an everyday pest all over the country. Before this, it had been decades since Americans had a massive outbreak across the country.
In order to live, bed bugs need wet, humid conditions. They are often found in begs, which is where they get their name, but they can also be found anywhere that provides them with wet, moist air and the ability to interact with hosts, such as movie theaters, libraries, and other areas of your home than just the bedroom. They are often in hotel rooms and other places associated with transportation, such as trains, airlines, busses, and taxis. Bed Bug Treatment is essential to get rid of these nasty pests!
Oklahoma City, with its humid subtropical climate in the smack dab of the southern Great Plains, is one of the bed bug hotspots in the United States. In fact, it has the ninth-worst bug problem of any city in the United States!
Due to this, services are sometimes required to fix a bed bug outbreak.
However, the following are some precautions you can take that can help prevent bed bugs:
1. Before settling in and unpacking, make sure to check all of the furniture, particularly the bed. Whether you’re sleeping in a motel, at a friend's house, at a relative's house, or at your own home – bed bugs can manifest anywhere.
2. Check the corners of mattresses and the underside of all sofa and chair cushions. There can be hundreds or even thousands of bed bugs in even the tightest areas.
3. Bed bugs leave behind hides that have been shed and distinctive stains. If you see the remnants of what you think maybe a bed bug colony, do not hesitate to contact a pest control service to further investigate the issue.
4. Wash all your clothes using a hot water wash. Even if you haven’t worn a clothing item for several months, it can be a pleasant home for these unpleasant pests, so washing it fairly regularly will prevent your clothes from becoming spawn points for a whole house infestation.
5. Whenever you travel, clean out your suitcase before putting it back wherever you store it. As mentioned earlier, hotels and motels, and planes, busses, and taxis are all breeding grounds for bed bugs. By washing your luggage and everything you brought on a trip before returning it to its regular place in your home, you can prevent bringing in bed bugs from the outside.
